The 2023 Suzuki Jimny Five Door, arguably the biggest secret in the global automotive industry today, was finally revealed in advance of Australian sales in 2023. The five-door Jimny shares the same engine, interior and four-wheel-drive system as its more minor brother. Suzuki Australia has confirmed Australian sales, but the pricing is still to be determined.
Michael Pachota, General Manager of Automobiles at Suzuki Australia, said that the Jimny Five-Door is another reason Australians will fall back in love with Suzuki.
“With the new Jimny Five-Door launch, we have given Jimny fans exactly what they wanted for so many years – an extra large Jimny!” Jimny is a cult favorite in Australia, and it will continue to grow as new fans who need more space join the ranks. This new variant will add to the iconic status of this model, and it will remain one of the most popular 4x4s across the country.
Except for the extra doors, the 2023 Suzuki Jimny Five-Door looks almost identical to the current Jimny Three-Door. The total length of the 2023 Suzuki Jimny Five-Door has increased by 340mm to 3,985mm. Its width is 1,645mm, and its height is 1,720mm. This is identical to that of the current three-door. When the rear seats are raised, the boot space is 208 liters which is more than twice as large as the three-door.
The 2023 Suzuki Jimny Five-Door will have the same 75kW/ 130Nm 1,5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a four-speed auto or a five-speed transmission. Rumors about a mild-hybrid or hybrid system are still unfounded. The five-door is made in India, unlike the Japanese-built 3-door. This will allow for more supply of the Jimny, which has been waiting a long time for the factory due to its global popularity.
Suzuki will likely offer two Jimny Five-Door models in Australia. The three-door model with an entry-level Lite features steel wheels, basic radios, halogen lights, cruise control, and, most importantly, six airbags.
The GLX will likely have alloy wheels, LEDs, touchscreens with smartphone mirroring and single-zone climate controls, and a rear-view camera.
Pricing and local specifications will be announced in Australia in the second half of 2023. Keep up with the latest automotive news by visiting DiscoverAuto.
