My wife and I spent a week together in Berlin, Germany. We stayed at the Abba Hotel, located on Lietzenburger Street. It is only 2 minutes away from Kurfurstendamm – one of Berlin’s famous streets with many malls and shops.
Berlin in a Few Words
Berlin has a great deal to offer tourists. One week will not be enough.
Many historical sites, museums, parks, and malls are worth visiting. There are also many beautiful streets, coffee shops, restaurants, and cafes. There are malls and shops everywhere, but in Berlin, it seems like there are more than anywhere else.
You can choose between more expensive malls like KaDeWe or Galeria Kaufhof and cheaper ones such as C&A in Berlin.
Berlin has everything. Shopping lovers will be delighted.
Berlin was much more than a simple trip. It was a vacation with the family.
You know what it’s like for adolescents today. The children are too busy to spend time with their parents. They’re occupied by their friends, TV, computers, and Facebook. Traveling with your children is a great way to bond.
When traveling, children are forced to spend time and communicate with their parents.
We did a few guided tours but mostly walked and traveled around the city by ourselves. Berlin is a very easy city to navigate. The public transport, buses, and underground are all very straightforward.
Berlin Highlights
Here are some of the many highlights that Berlin has to offer:
- Pergamon Museum is amazing. There are a number of monumental buildings, such as the Pergamon Altar, the Market Gate of Miletus, and a life-size temple. All of these were assembled from parts brought over from Turkey.
- The Neue und Altes Museums
- Berlin Wall fragments that separate the western and eastern parts of Berlin.
- Brandenburg Gate.
- Checkpoint Charlie
- The TV tower.
- Alexander Platz, Potsdam Squares, and many others.
Unter den Linden is a street I would recommend you visit. It starts at the Brandenburg Gate. This is a wide and long boulevard with many beautiful buildings.

The United Buddy Bears exhibit is located on Kurfurstendamm Street (also known as Ku’damm).
This is an exhibition consisting of 140 Buddy bear statues that are 2 meters high, with each bear representing a different country recognized by the United Nations. Each Buddy Bear was designed and painted in the land of origin by an artist.
United Buddy Bears are on a world tour to express their wish for peace and harmony around the globe.
Berlin is a great place to visit, not just because you can see so many things, but because the city is also very affordable, has a cosmopolitan feel, is easy to navigate, and the trains and buses arrive on time.
I want to talk about the weather. Even though it was August, there were still some rainy mornings. On one occasion, hail fell on us as we stepped off the bus at Alexander Platz. Other days were hotter, with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius.
It was nice to get away. Sometimes it’s nice to go on holiday.
