The 2024 Polestar 3 was released in Australia before its local launch in the first quarter of 2024. The Polestar 3 will be a twin to the new Volvo EX90 with a price starting at $132,900, plus on-road charges. It is also the first SUV from the brand and will compete against other premium electric SUVs, such as the Mercedes-Benz EQC Genesis Electrified GV70 Audi e-tron. Polestar 3’s order book is now open. The company has received more than 7,000 expressions of interest.
Samantha Johnson, the Head of Polestar Australia, said: “Polestar 3 will be a much-anticipated addition to Polestar’s range in Australia.” In Australia, 53% of all new vehicles sold last year were SUVs, more than twice as many as in 2010.
Polestar 3 will set a new standard for driving excellence, technology integration, and sustainability in the electric age.
The 2023 Polestar 3 is initially available in two versions: the Long-Range Dual Motor for $132,900, plus any on-road charges, and the Performance Package for $140,900. The same 111kWh battery pack is used in both trim levels. It can be charged to 250kW. This allows for a charge of up to 80 percent within 30 minutes. The Long Range Dual Motor is claimed to have a WLTP range of up to 610km. However, the Performance Pack reduces this to 560km.
The Long Range Dual Motor produces 360kW and 880Nm torque. This allows it to sprint from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in only 5.0 seconds. The Performance Pack boosts outputs up to 380kW and 910Nm and reduces the sprint time from 0 to 100km/h to just 4.7 seconds.
The 2024 Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor comes standard with 21-inch alloys, automatic all LED lighting, auto wipers, and a panoramic glass top. It also has a laminated privacy window, heated electric seats, driver memory, tri-zone climate control, a heat pump, and a keyless entry with a power tailgate.
The safety equipment includes nine airbags, two center units in the front, auto emergency braking with braking and steering assistance for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, adaptive cruise control with steering assistance, auto high beam with road sign information, and driver attention monitoring. Other features include blind-spot detection, cross-traffic warning with automatic braking, and rear collision warning with automatic braking.
The Plus pack is standard at launch but likely to be optional afterward. It includes a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 1,610W, a powered column with memory and heated wipers, a heated rear seat, a heated wheel, ‘MicroTech or wool upholstery,’ recycled aluminum interior trim, infrared windscreen, a rear luggage organizer, diamond cut wheels, and an infrared windscreen.
The Pilot Pack is also standard for launch. It adds a heads-up display, automatic parking, ‘Pilot Assist Highway Steering,’ acceleration and brake support at speeds of up to 150km/h, and supports highway steering.
The $6,000 pilot pack with LiDAR includes radars and ultrasonic sensors for future autonomous driving. It also has three exterior cameras, four extra ultrasonic sensors, and a camera cleaning system. The $9,000 Performance Pack includes more power, larger wheels, a sportier setup, Pirelli P-Zero tires, gold-colored valve caps, seat belts, interior lighting, and a range-optimization drive mode.
The solo options include $3,000 HD LED headlights with a 1.3-megapixel resolution, 22-inch alloy wheels, $7500 Nappa leather seats with massaging and ventilation, $2,000 metallic paints (the only option that is free of charge, with the other colors – ‘Snow White,’ Thunder Grey,’ Jupiter Rose Gold,’ Midnight Blue and a ‘Space Black’ costing extra), and un-tinted glass and an electric folding tow.
